Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Biodynamic craniosacral therapy is deep listening through touch. It is a gentle hands on practice that helps your body tap into its natural ability to heal and restore balance. Each session is 60 minutes (longer for a MotherBaby dyad session). It is a hands-on therapy where the client is invited to lie on the therapy table with the warm comfort of blankets on them (The client can also choose to sit). Through the art of touch the client's body is given space to re align and reorganise. Ali comes into contact at different points of the body such as legs, sacrum, back, shoulders and head. Connecting in with fascia, connective tissue and central nervous system. Through these holds and connections the tension and discomforts held can be released, allowing for wellness and health. A BCST session is an invitation to release and come back into comfort and well being.
Pregnancy is often portrayed as a beautiful and joyful time for women. However, positive the image, some of the changes involved may be unexpected and difficult, leaving the experience charged with conflicting emotions. In addition to the physical changes a woman may often experience emotional changes due to hormonal fluctuations, possible ambivalence about the pregnancy and the uncertainty about the birthing process. Physical ailments can be exacerbated during the pregnancy and western women tend to be encouraged to ignore body signs and impulses to slow down which can cause increased stress levels and an increased sense of incapacity.
Choosing BCST during the pregnancy supports the nervous system, hormones, circulation, digestion, musculoskeletal and pelvic floor. Many discomforts of pregnancy respond very well to BCST. As a Midwife who supports physiological birth Ali knows the power of BCST during the antenatal period in preparation for labour and birth..
BCST can be extremely beneficial to helping a woman recover from the physiological, psychological and emotional impacts of birth which can be profound and wide-ranging. Ali understands the healing that can happen when a mother is listened to and held in the safe, supported BCST space. Taking time out to meet and listen to your body through stillness and touch can allow the space for your inherent health and body intelligence to unfold allowing for more connection, sensation and life energy.
